Embroidered Turtles

My sisters and I decided that we would exchange handmade gifts for the holidays this year. For Sam and Doug, I wanted to do something special with a photograph from their wedding. 

I chose a picture that my dad took because it shows their turtle necklaces, which represent a beautiful moment in their relationship. I also really love the way that they are looking at each other in this picture.  

I changed the photo from color to sepia and had it printed on fabric. I then embroidered the necklaces in their original colors (as well as the flowers in Sam's hair). 

The embroidery is subtle but stands out just enough to bring attention to the beautiful symbol of the turtles.
