Dinosaur in My House

My son is 6 years old and his favorite dinosaur is the Ankylosaurus. It has been his favorite for at least three years. So with some time on my hands this week, I decided to quill him one.
This little Ankylosaurus is part of an adventure! Click here or scroll down for a peek at the book, There's a Dinosaur in My House.

I found this to be a bit of a tricky project because I wasn't completely sure what an Ankylosaurus looked like! So, I did some research and then started with a sketch based on various pictorial interpretations of the Ankylosaurus.

The end of the tail is made with traditional quilling shapes.

The body is created with folded paper strips.

The feet, armor, and face are more traditional shapes.

In addition to simply being a dinosaur, it turns out that an Ankylosaurus of this size makes an excellent mustache. 😉

E has an incredible imagination. I decided to write down what played out one afternoon when he was pretending to be an angry ankylosaurus.

E loved the story, and so I made it into a book for him. Here are some pictures from There's a Dinosaur in My House!
